Jesus is Love

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

When I was growing up, I remember my Big Moma, putting the Commodores record on almost every day, but especially on Sunday. She wasn’t a Commodore fan, but they had one song that she played all the time, Jesus Is Love. When I woke up this morning, God had placed this song in my spirit. I looked up the lyrics and began to hum it to myself. My intentions were to share it as a Facebook Post, but then I never got around to doing so. Later this morning, while standing at the nurse’s station within my place of employment, I hear the music to the song. I turn around, staring in a room trying to figure out where the music is coming from. Then I hear Lionel Richie begin to sing,

“Father help your children and don't let them fall by the side of the road. Mmm, and teach them to love one another, And heaven might find a place in their hearts" Cause Jesus is love. He won't let you down, And I know He's mine forever, Ah, in my heart. We've got to walk on, walk on through temptation, "Cause His Love and His wisdom will be our helping hand. And I know the truth and His word will be our salvation. Lift up our heart to be thankful and glad ‘Cause Jesus is love. He won't let you down, And I know He's mine deep down in my soul. Jesus is love. I want to follow your star wherever it leads me, And I don't mind Lord, I hope you don't mind. I want to walk with you and talk with you, And do all the things you want me to do, "Cause I know that Jesus, Jesus is love, I know, And if you ask, I'll show love is the word forever, Ah, in my heart, help me, heart, heart. I know, I know, I know, I know His love's the power, His love's the glory forever, ever, ever, ever. Who can bring you love? Who can bring you joy? Who can turn your life around? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, who will pick you up, ooh, where you fall? Who will stand beside you? Who will love us all? Hey, Jesus, Jesus. Who can heal your body? Who can make it strong? Who can help you to hold out a little while longer? Oh yeah, Jesus loves you, Jesus wants you, You can call Him, He will answer. Call Him in the morning, call Him in the evening.”

Chills began running through my body and tears were in my eyes, because I knew without a doubt that God was confirming His word from this morning. That Jesus is love!!! As disciples of Christ, we all face trials, situations, and circumstances. It might be trouble in your home, on your job, within your church, etc., the point is that we all are dealing with something and someone. The good news is the Jesus is love. We just must give “IT” to Him. We are not facing our problems alone, because He is with us. When I heard the song this morning, it reminded of the “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). Very often, people have a hard time taking God at His word, but if God says it, that settles it, and there’s absolutely no reason to doubt it. So, we can believe and trust that God is with us and for us. We must lean not to our own understanding, but in all of ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths. God loved us so much that He sent His only son to die for us even before we were born. Isn’t it good to know that we have been on His mind before the foundation of the world? I don’t know about you but that’s enough to give Him praise!!!!! We have flaws, but He loves us. We fall short, but He loves us. We do the opposite of what He says, but He still loves us. Just as He loves us, we must love others. We are commissioned to love. If we are to walk and talk like Jesus, and the lyrics state, we must do it in love. They are going to talk about us, scandalize our names, call us everything but a child of God; however, despite all that, we must still love. The bible says that He will make our enemies our footstool, and then it says in another verse that He will prepare a table in the presence of our enemies. In other words, your enemies are going to help you get to where God is taking you. A footstool is used to elevate you from one level to the next. Catch that!!!! Then they will watch you eat, watch you grow, watch you be a success, watch you get blessed, watch you get all that God has for you. The funny thing is that they will not be able to do anything about it, nothing but watch. Hallelujah!!!!!!! That part right there and its because He loves you. So, let me encourage you as I encourage myself, Yes Jesus loves you, Yes Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves us, because the Bible tells me so.
